An evening of Arab and international classical music at Dubai Opera

The Dubai Opera Studio Theater is preparing to host the concert of international artist Laura Mikhail, the Egyptian soprano and the first Arab woman to receive a Jameel Grant from the Andrea Bocelli Foundation, with orchestral and classical music provided by pianist Amira Fouad, artistic director of the Global Notes Concert Series, on November 11. Second, the ceremony will be organized by Anchor Company, in cooperation with the Royal Grammar School Guildford Dubai and the Opera.
Classical music enthusiasts will enjoy an evening created by Laura Michael, a researcher and graduate of the Royal College of Music. The concert program includes a group of classical tunes by the world’s most famous composers, such as Puccini, Rossini and Bizet.
The surprise of the ceremony will also be the presentation of a group of the most famous Arabic songs that revive the Arab artistic heritage, by a group of the most prominent Arab artists, such as Farid Al-Atrash and Muhammad Abdel-Wahab.
Laura Mikhail is also scheduled to perform a group of musical arias from the Baroque era, including famous arias from Handel’s “Thedora,” and the most prominent songs from romantic opera classics from the musical theater, such as the plays “Madame Butterfly” by Puccini and “Carmen” by Bizet. Laura also embodies the versatility and diversity of her voice. By presenting the songs of the Argentine composer Piazzolla, such as the most famous melodies of the play “Les Misérables” and the performance of “West Side Story.”
Although this is the first time that artist Laura Mikhail has met the Dubai Opera audience, she has presented distinguished performances in the Arab world alongside Maestro Andrea Bocelli, in his concert in AlUla in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, and recently completed the summer opera scenes; Where she played the role of Bianca by Puccini.
It is noteworthy that Laura, who lives in London, found her passion for singing in her childhood when she was part of the church choir in Minya, Egypt, and later studied music performance at West Virginia Wesleyan College in the United States. She was elected a member of the Acapella Choir, which works closely with Dr. Dan Hughes, Director of Choral Activities, whom she credits with greatly influencing her vocal development. She has performed in major concert halls in the world, such as the Bösendorf Hall in Vienna, The Roy Thomson Hall in Toronto, the Usher Hall in Edinburgh, the National Concert Hall in Dublin, the Egyptian Opera House, and St. John’s. Smith Square, Cadogan Hall and Wigmore Hall in London.
