After Logic Pro last night, Apple today announced an upcoming update for Final Cut Pro on Mac and iPad with some new features, including some optimizations limited to Apple Silicon chips on Mac.
What’s new in Final Cut Pro 1.3 on iPad
With this new iteration of Final Cut Pro for iPad, Apple intends to make it even easier to set up a voiceover, whether it is recorded from the iPad’s built-in microphone or from an external model by pressing the record button directly during playback (with a countdown).
This new version will also optimize the workflow by allowing stabilization to be activated and deactivated in real time within Pro Camera mode, by combining and consolidating a group of clips or scenarios via a new command, and by offering new keyboard shortcuts. Final Cut Pro for iPad 1.3 will be available later in November.
What’s new in Final Cut Pro 10.7 for Mac
The new version of Final Cut Pro for Mac will introduce automatic timeline scrolling, making it easier for users to stay focused by keeping their clips visible under the playhead during playback. Editors will be able to change their timeline view in real time during playback using the Zoom tool and keyboard shortcuts.
Version 10.7 will make it possible to optimize the editing of complex projects by simply displaying the organization of the timeline and differentiating the different clips by role using color codes.
Finally, the update will rely on Apple Silicon chips to optimize object and subject tracking on machines equipped with them thanks to a new machine learning algorithm as well as the use of encoding engines. for H.264 and HEVC exports by automatically sending video segments to available media engines for simultaneous processing. As with the iPad version, Apple is announcing a release before the end of the month.
