New York: UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres said that Gaza is becoming a graveyard for children. The safety of civilians is paramount. “Now is the time to act to end this brutal, horrific and painful destruction,” Guterres said.

‘Gaza is turning into a graveyard for children. Hundreds of boys and girls are killed or injured every day. There are clear violations of international human rights laws. “The UN needs $1.2 billion to help 2.7 million people in Gaza and the West Bank,” Guterres said.

Israel Defense Forces ground and air strikes have targeted civilians, hospitals, refugee camps, mosques, churches and even UN facilities. No one is safe. Meanwhile, Hamas and other armed groups use civilians as human shields. Rockets continue to fire into Israel. Guterres also said that 89 UNRWA volunteers were killed in Gaza.

Meanwhile, Benjamin Netanyahu said Israel would take over security in Gaza indefinitely if the war ends. Netanyahu ruled out the possibility of a cease-fire pending the release of hostages by Hamas. A temporary ceasefire can be given on humanitarian grounds. Netanyahu also said a strategic ceasefire might be considered to deliver aid or get hostages out.
