Islamabad – Pakistani court to consider the case once morest the deceased former President of Pakistan Pervez Musharraf. The court will consider the fraud charges once morest him on Friday.
The charge was that there was a massive conspiracy behind the overthrow of the constitution and the imposition of emergency on November 3, 2007. Musharraf was sentenced to death by a special court in 2019. The court observed that Musharraf had carried out the biggest military coup in Pakistan’s 75-year history. But the Lahore High Court quashed the sentence.
A petition filed in the Supreme Court seeking re-imposition of the death sentence awarded by the special court is being considered. A four-member bench headed by Chief Justice Qazi Faiz Isa is hearing the case.
The Sindh High Court, along with the Bar Association, had approached the Supreme Court challenging the order of the Lahore High Court. Musharraf died in February 2023 in Dubai.
