The 70th season of Europe’s premier club competition is the 33rd since the start of the UEFA Champions League era, as well as the first under the new format which begins on July 9, 2024 and runs until the Saturday final May 31, 2025.

What is the new format of the Champions League?
The biggest change is to the group stage, which will become a 36-team league stage. Each team faces eight different teams (four home, four away). The top eight in the general classification qualify directly for the round of 16. The teams ranked ninth to twenty-fourth will compete in the play-offs for the knockout stage, the winners of which will advance to the round of 16. The competition then follows a knockout format.

The 2024/25 UEFA Champions League season concludes at the Fußball Arena München in Munich, with the highlight of Europe’s club football calendar returning to the German city for the first time since 2012.
Completed on April 30, 2005, the stadium is located on Werner-Heisenberg-Allee and is owned by Bayern München. It hosted four UEFA EURO 2020 matches and, as it is also used for UEFA EURO 2024, it is the first stadium in history to host consecutive UEFA European Championship matches. Its capacity for this tournament is 67,000 places.

The current trophy measures 73.5 cm and weighs 7.5 kg.
The 2024/25 winners also earn a place in the 2025/26 UEFA Champions League league stage, if they did not qualify through their domestic competition. They will also earn the right to play once morest the winners of the 2024/25 UEFA Europa League in the 2025 UEFA Super Cup.
