Stephano Park, a member of the Vienna State Opera’s opera studio, emerged as the winner of yesterday’s “Operalia” finale and can therefore claim victory in the most important international singing competition for young singers. The young South Korean bass, who has been at the Vienna State Opera since September 2023, impressed with the aria “Infelice! E tuo credevi« Ernani by Giuseppe Verdi. The Haus am Ring congratulates!
Stephano Park has been a member of the opera studio founded by Bogdan Roščić since the 2022/23 season, a two-year continuing education curriculum for excellent young singers. He studied at Seoul National University and received his bachelor’s degree in classical singing. He studied with John Lee and Attila Jun and is currently studying with Jennifer Larmore. Stephano Park is the recipient of numerous awards, including the Korean Voice Competition and the VMCG. In 2019 he sang Talpa in Puccinis at the SNU Cultural Center Grand Theater The tabard as well as Simone in Gianni Schicchi. In 2021 he appeared as a finalist at the 39th International Hans Gabor Belvedere Singing Competition in Erfurt. Further engagements took him to South Korea, Switzerland and Austria, among others.
Stephano Park made his state opera debut as Bossmin (The abduction into the magical kingdom), he also appeared here, among other things Andrea Chenier, Salome and Tosca on. Future games include, among others, the 2nd Armored Man in The Magic FluteSid in The girl of the West and Lodovico in Othello.
