Our readers were able to read the elements of the last general assembly of Secours Populaire in our edition of October 20, 2023. The statutory body ended with the election of the new general secretary. We went to meet François Laballe, newly elected to the general secretariat of Secours Populaire Lotois.
François Laballe, what is your background at Secours Populaire?
I am originally from the Paris region, from Choisy-le-Roi to be exact, I very quickly got involved, first as a volunteer, then as an employee at Secours Populaire. For family reasons, we decided to settle in the South-West. We liked the Lot. I once once more volunteered at Secours Populaire du Lot, first as treasurer. In 2020, the Secretary General asked me to take charge, and today I take full responsibility.
What are your objectives for Secours populaire du Lot?
I would like to continue the work started with the coverage of white areas where Secours populaire is too far away. We opened in Prayssac, we are working on opening in Gramat. We need to develop our supplies, get closer to local producers and establish short supply chain partnerships. We work in good harmony with other associations. We are developing our actions well beyond food aid, towards holiday aid, towards clothing aid, for culture, well beyond our borders too, for emergencies like in Morocco or projects in long term as in Madagascar. There is much, much to do… Contact: Secours Populaire Français 198, chemin Ludo Rollès 46000 Cahors – Email: [email protected] – Site : www.secourspopulaire.fr/46/
