Matam, Nov 5 (APS) – The Director of the Matam Regional Cultural Center, Samba Kandé, announced on Sunday that sections of the Association of Artists-Comedians of Senegal (ARCOTS) will soon be installed in the departments of Matam and Ranerou.
»For the past year, only the Kanel department has set up its ARCOTS section. People are confusing things and talking regarding ARCOTS Matam when the latter has still not been created. We will soon set up the Matam and Ranérou sections of ARCOTS,” he said.
Mr. Kandé was speaking on the occasion of his meeting with theater actors from the Matam department, a meeting which recorded the participation of around twenty artists and actors from several localities.
He also announced that the establishment of these two sections will be followed by the holding of a General Assembly during which the ARCOTS regional office will be established.
During this meeting, Samba Kandé and theater actors discussed the diagnosis of the sector and the strategy for relaunching theatrical activities.
In addition to the theater actors, Samba Kandé, who took service two months ago, recently met rappers from the commune of Matam, who subsequently established an association at the baptismal font.
»I plan to receive the literary ones next time. The visual artists are preparing for a meeting,” announced Mr. Kandé.
