In the municipality of Bad Ischl (Gmunden district) a deer got stuck in a fence on Saturday. Passers-by noticed the frightened animal, which was unable to move forward or back. The Bad Ischl volunteer fire department came to help and was able to free the animal from its predicament without damaging the fence or injuring the animal. After being freed, the deer took great strides towards the farmer’s park.
Deer fell into the shaft
The next day, the emergency services at Mondsee were called upon following a deer fell into a shaft on the B151 in the Innerschwander district of Maierhof. A driver observed the animal crossing the federal highway and then disappearing into the water shaft several meters deep. The witness alerted the fire department. By the time the crew arrived, the deer was already very exhausted from its futile attempts to get out of its little prison.
The hunt leader – also a member of the fire department – made sure that the animal was uninjured and climbed down to it using a ladder. The deer was carefully taken out of the shaft by the hunt leader and other comrades. It jumped off its shoulders under its own power and fled unharmed into the nearby forest. The animal rescue operation was completed following 30 minutes, the Mondsee fire department announced on Sunday evening.
