Rod Stewart is “very lenient” with his eight children.

The 78-year-old musician is a father of eight children – Sarah, 60, Kimberly, 44, Sean, 43, Ruby, 36, Renee, 31, and Liam, 29, as well as his two youngest sons Alastair, 17, and Aiden, 12, with his current wife Penny Lancaster – and he admitted he had a particularly laid-back approach to raising the children, but he insists it seems to have worked out well as none of them between them was derailed.

He told Haute Living magazine: “I’m very lenient with them. None of them had serious problems. A few dabbled in drugs, but that’s over. I am very proud of them […]. I don’t think I’m as strict with my children as my mother and father were – especially my father. »

However, even though his parents were strict, Rod credits his father for encouraging him to pursue his dream of becoming a musician.

He adds: “At the time, being in a rock band meant asking yourself why you wanted to do that. My father particularly encouraged me. He bought me my first guitar when I didn’t really want one. He said to me: ‘Go ahead, son.’ … His idea was, I think, ‘There’s money to be made, son.’ My whole family, including my two brothers, therefore chipped in to buy me my second guitar, a Zenith, which I still have and which I have had since the age of 16 or 17… We We had no money. We lived in rented apartments, but my family always found space and money to give me to keep me going. I owe them a lot. »
