A spontaneous strike action at Airbus by employees in the painting sector following the dismissal of one of their colleagues. The striking employees demand the reinstatement of the employee. The movement continues throughout this weekend.
Employees in the painting sector at Airbus went on strike to demand the reinstatement of one of their dismissed colleagues on Thursday, November 2. The movement continues all weekend.
According to the CGT Airbus press release, a young painter was notified of his dismissal this Thursday, November 2. The union believes that “this employee put himself in danger following agreeing to work overtime at the request of his superiors”. After a heavy week, “the employee temporarily forgot to wear his safety harness”, states the CGT press release.
The union denounces “the working conditions, the pressure exerted, the speeds, the defective equipment or the unsuitable safety measures which are at the origin of the accidents”.
The dismissed employee had worked for 8 years at Airbus, including 5 years on a permanent contract, continues the CGT, which specifies “that he has never received the slightest reproach, neither on the quality of his work, nor on compliance with safety instructions”. His colleagues say they are shocked by this brutal management decision. They demand his reinstatement.
