Riyadh: A Bangladeshi woman gave birth to a baby girl on a Saudi Arabian Airlines flight. A 30-year-old woman gave birth to a baby girl during flight SA 1546 from the northwestern Saudi city of Tabuk to Jeddah.

The captain informed the Jeddah Airport Air Traffic Control Tower that the woman gave birth on the plane. A medical team was immediately deployed at Jeddah Airport to provide necessary care to the woman and the baby. The captain instructed the plane to land near the nearest gate in the airport terminal to provide immediate care to the woman and the baby.

As soon as the plane landed, a medical team consisting of Saudi women paramedics examined the woman and the baby and provided necessary care. After ascertaining the health condition of the mother and baby, both were later transferred to the King Abdullah Medical Complex in an ambulance.

Jeddah Airport Company has launched the Saudi Women Paramedical Staff Program.
Jeddah Airport is the first airport in Saudi Arabia to implement such a program. This project aims to provide Saudi women paramedics to provide medical services in emergency and critical cases.
