In an interview on the show “Le Bilan”, the President and CEO of Leaders de Valeur Groupe Conseils Inc., Céline Morellon, emphasized that we were witnessing a rebalancing in the job market.

While in recent years, labor was a rare commodity highly sought following by companies, bosses can now afford to be more selective in their hiring and no longer need to offer the moon to attract workers.

“There seems to have been an adaptation, a contraction in terms of demand. It definitely shows on the ground,” explains Ms. Morellon.

“We saw a shift in budgets, when there was the contraction of the pandemic, towards projects which allowed greater automation and were less dependent on certain jobs. And unfortunately, we see the backlash today,” she adds.

In addition, the fear of a recession is causing many employers to currently eliminate positions as a preventive measure.

For his part, the CEO and founder of Reelcruit, Ralph François, also notices a change in the trend in the job market.

“Not only do we have candidates who actively approach us, whereas before we were chasing them, and today we find ourselves with an influx of candidates per position presented. These are things we haven’t seen for around fifteen years. We can see more than 200 candidates applying for each position,” he emphasizes.

Mr. François also notes that candidates demonstrate greater flexibility with employers due to competition in the job market.

“The candidates adapt. We feel that they approach positions with much less confidence,” he notes.
