Max Verstappen and his Red Bull took the classification of the Brazilian Grand Prix from Formula 1 in the circuit Interlagos. Charles Leclerc and Lance Stroll finished as the guards.

The classification began with a delay because the track officials had to sweep the asphalt strip following passing a support category. Already in Qualy 1, George Russell was the fastest with 1:10.340 and was 96 thousandths ahead of Max Verstappen, while Charles Leclerc finished third, 132 seconds behind.

The novelty of this cut was the elimination of the two AlphaTauri, since Daniel Ricciardo and Yuki Tsunoda did not advance to the next instance. In addition to the two Italian team drivers, Valtteri Bottas, Logan Sargeant and Zhou Guanyu were also left out.

In Qualy 2, Lando Norris was the one who set the reference with 1:10.021and surpassed Verstappen by 141 thousandths. Third position went to Sergio Pérez, at 198; Fernando Alonso placed fourth, at 216 and Carlos Sainz closed the top five, at 233.

Nico Hülkenberg, Esteban Ocon, Pierre Gasly, Kevin Magnussen and Alexander Albon were eliminated from the intermediate qualifying round.

The panorama changed radically for the Qualy 3, because the dark clouds were threatening and the ten protagonists went out to find their times as soon as the clock opened so as not to take risks if the rain appeared. However, weather conditions sealed the fate of the last cut.

In the few minutes that there was a green flag, Verstappen set 1:10.272 to take pole position and beat Leclerc by 294 thousandthswhile Lance Stroll placed third, at 617. Then, Alonso placed fourth, at 660, and Lewis Hamilton was fifth, at 742.

Norris, Sainz, Russell, Pérez and Oscar Piastri finished further back.

George Russell had finished sixth on the track, but was penalized two places following an incident he had with Pierre Gasly on the pit lane. The Briton was penalized for driving slowly and not staying on the left of the lane when traveling at low speed.

The activity of the Brazilian Grand Prix will continue tomorrow with the Sprint Shootout at 11 a.m. and the Sprint will start at 3 p.m.
