Over the past week, Bungie has been making headlines for all the wrong reasons, as the developer recently laid off around 100 employees due to Destiny 2 failing to live up to expectations. This has also led to delays in the next and final expansion pack for the game Light and Darkness Saga, as Destiny 2: The Final Shape was pushed back from February to June, while the studio’s other game, Marathon, was pushed back to 2025 Year. Bungie has now addressed some of these developments in a new blog post. Instead of publishing the regular This Week in Destiny blog, Bungie posted a blog called “Our Way Forward,” in which the developers specifically stated: “We want to thank you for your support of Fall of Light and recent seasons. feedback and concerns, and your responses to Final Shape’s reveal. We know we’ve lost a lot of your trust. Destiny demands surprises and delights. We haven’t done enough of that, and that will change. As for how Bungie plans to repair its relationship with fans, the developer added: “For us, the path forward is clear: We need to make Final Shape a memorable Destiny experience. We wanted to build something that would stand on par with the best games we’ve ever made. Bungie did say that even following the layoffs, it currently has around 650 people working on The Final Shape, and over the next few weeks we’ll learn more regarding how the game is adjusting in the short term and starting with November. The next season starts in late.
