Catastrophic Conditions in Gaza: The Urgent Need for Humanitarian Aid and Medical Support

The doctor said Ahmed Al-Mandhari The Regional Director of the World Health Organization for the Eastern Mediterranean said that the situation in Gaza is catastrophic. Through communications, the workers there told us that the smell of death is everywhere, especially in hospitals.

Al-Mandhari added, during a phone call with Cairo News, that 40% of hospitals stopped working, either by direct targeting or by a fuel outage, in addition to the cessation of 51 health centers affiliated with international organizations and the Ministry of Health, out of 75 that stopped for those reasons.

He continued: “There are hundreds of thousands of patients suffering from chronic diseases, whose lives have been put at risk due to the lack of necessary medicines and health care.”

He continued: “200 direct attacks were recorded on hospitals, health centers and medical institutions, and their direct targeting or surrounding areas is a flagrant violation of international law, in addition to the occupation forces’ disregard for people’s lives.”

He confirmed that there are 130 children in nurseries suffering from various diseases whose lives are at risk. Due to the lack of service, in addition to the presence of 9,000 people suffering from tumors.

The Regional Director of the World Health Organization stressed that there must be a continuous, uninterrupted truce and the entry of humanitarian aid.
