Controversy Surrounding Justin Trudeau’s Son’s Halloween Costume: The Impact of Social Media Criticism

Tuesday evening, many of them dressed up for the Halloween party. This was particularly the case for the son of Justin Trudeau, the Canadian Prime Minister. The latter also wanted to immortalize the moment by sharing an image of his child in disguise.

But not everyone liked his costume. For the occasion, Hadrien Trudeau, 9 years old, wore a special costume which simulated his own decapitation. “Hadrian seems to have something wrong. It won’t stop him from celebrating Halloween,” Justin Trudeau commented on X (formerly Twitter).

Except that for many Internet users, and given the role of the father of the family, the disguise goes poorly in the context of the conflict between Israel and Hamas, a conflict in which acts of beheading are reported. Criticism then arose on social networks.

“He is totally disconnected from reality,” says political blogger Tyler Popp. For her part, television personality Saba Khan commented: “The Prime Minister of Canada, Justin Trudeau, decided to publish a photo of himself with his son dressed as a decapitated child. This is the stupidest thing he might do at a time when children are being beheaded in Palestine. Why show up knowing what’s happening right now?”
