Barras broke into the closing of the campaign of one of the groups that will run for elections in Vélez
Late this Wednesday night, the closing of the campaign of one of the groups that will run for elections next Saturday at the Club Atlético Vélez Sarsfield ended with a violent confrontation between factions of the barra brava and the police had to intervene .
The event on the La V Azulada list was developing normally last night following 8:30 p.m. at the Villa Luro Norte Club, located at Elpidio González 5445, ten blocks from the José Amalfitani stadium, when a group of 30 people identified with the bar del “Fortín” broke in, causing incidents with fist blows and using knives. Shortly before, the event of another group, called Siempre Vélez, which nominated Fabián Berlanga, had taken place.
The V Azulada issued a statement repudiating and condemning the attack: “Some violent individuals identified with Vélez clothing attempted to force their way into the headquarters without success, attacking the event attendees who were outside.”
“We repudiate and condemn the attack suffered once morest our group. Party differences and ideologies are settled at the polls through an electoral and democratic act, not with violence,” continued the group that nominates motorist Eduardo “Lalo” Rado.
“Vélez is family and we need the support of all of you, the good members, so that these violent people never set foot in the club once more. We have more strength than ever, we are not going to let ourselves be intimidated by a couple of misfits and the dirty practice of politics. Greetings to all, we are waiting for you on Saturday, let’s go Vélez #GenteNueva,” the statement concluded.
From Siempre Vélez they joined the repudiation and, through a text shared on their social networks, stated: “They have nothing to do with what our institution represents.”
“We remain at your entire disposal for anything we can be of use and we hope that the facts are clarified as soon as possible, identifying those responsible. Always, above all, Vélez First,” the statement concluded.
The V Azulada thanked the rival list for the gesture of “solidarity” through a tweet: “Let’s go for a better Vélez.”
City Police and SAME personnel approached the scene to dissuade the attackers and treat the injured from the violent confrontation. According to the party site Sábado Vélez, there are four detainees and two people were injured.
The violent episode occurred following the scandalous assembly of club members where members of the current board of directors and attendees ended up facing each other with chair blows and insults following the approval of the balance sheet that was considered inconsistent by the members.
The two days of incidents occur within hours of the elections in which the institution will renew authorities. Beyond what happened among the bars, the group La V Azulada was able to carry out its campaign close in an event attended by 400 people, among whom Alejandro Tocalli and Leandro Gracián stood out. “We thank all the families, partners, and fans who accompany us and we invite those who do not do so to trust in this project. We are New People trained and honest to be able to lead our great club. A Vélez that needs the union and transparency of the leaders,” the group published on its X (Twitter) account.
Next Saturday, November 4, between 8 a.m. and 8 p.m., members will be able to come to the Vélez Sports Center to “make themselves heard through their vote,” invited the group that called for “a democratic party full of respect and peace.”
