The individual believed to be at fault is named Jonathan J. Dunn. He was formally charged with interfering with the crew of a commercial flight on August 22, 2022.
“They disagreed on what to do regarding rerouting the flight due to a medical issue in a passenger, Dunn told the captain he would be shot multiple times if he changed the “flight route,” indicates the United States Department of Transportation in a press release.
The indictment states that Mr. Dunn allegedly “assaulted and intimidated a member of the crew, interfering with the performance of the crew’s duties and impairing their ability to carry out those duties, and allegedly used a dangerous weapon by attacking and intimidating members of the crew.
The defendant was in legal possession of a weapon during the flight, having obtained permission from the Federal Flight Deck Officer of the Transportation Security Administration (FDA).
The airline Delta indicates that Mr. Dunn is no longer one of its employees.
