The Film Lab Palestine Foundation, in cooperation with the Beirut Film Days Festival, decided to organize more than 90 free screenings of Palestinian films, in cities and spaces spread throughout the world, through its partners (from cultural associations, local community spaces, cinema halls, and activists), starting from Thursday, November 2, in condemnation of the war that has been taking place in the Gaza Strip since October 7.

This comes following the cancellation of the 10th session of the “Palestine Film Days” festival, which was scheduled to be held from October 24 to November 2, in 5 Palestinian cities in Gaza and the West Bank.

The Film Lab Palestine Foundation confirmed in a statement that the screening program received a response from South America, Europe and the Arab region, so it is expected that cinematic screenings will increase in the coming days, to give the Foundation “an opportunity for banned Palestinian voices to express themselves and confront the war.” Propaganda and falsification of history.

The free screenings include 8 documentaries and feature films, including “Hunting Ghosts” by Raed Andoni, which deals with the issue of Palestinian prisoners held by the Israeli occupation, and “Threads of Narrative” by Carole Mansour, which reviews the lives, testimonies and stories of 12 Palestinian women.

The film “Gaza Surfing Club” by directors Mickey Yammine and Philippe Jannat, and “Another Leap” by Emmanuel Gerosa, which deals with the true story of two friends practicing acrobatic sports in Gaza, will also be screened.

The screenings include the film “Farha” by Darren Salam, which reenacts a massacre committed by the occupation forces once morest a Palestinian family during the Nakba in 1948, in addition to the film “The Remaining Time” by Elia Suleiman, whose events revolve around the Israeli occupation army’s destruction of the city of Nazareth in 1948.

The film “Until Further Notice” by Rashid Masharawi will also be shown, which monitors the experiences of a family living in a refugee camp in Gaza under a curfew imposed by the occupation forces, in contrast to the film “The Story of the Three Jewels” by Michel Khalifa, which deals with a love story between a boy and a girl who have not yet reached the age of adolescence. They live under siege in Gaza.

It is noteworthy that “Film Lab Palestine” was founded in 2014 in Palestine, where the idea was inspired by the personal experience of its founders in the Palestinian refugee camps in Jordan, and came to enable Palestinian youth to tell their stories and document their collective memory through the art of filmmaking.

The Foundation aims to develop and disseminate cinematic culture in Palestine while providing technical and artistic support to emerging Palestinian cinematic voices. Committed to the slogan “It is time to tell our stories,” Film Lab seeks to support one of the most powerful means of self-expression, narrative, and preservation of collective memory, putting Palestine’s name on the map of the global film industry.
