After a major update at the end of September in Windows 11, introducing intelligence features such as Copilot, improvements in Paint, and changes to OneDrive, Photos and Windows Backup, Microsoft began releasing the new version 23H2 of the system, focused on improvements in Microsoft Teams and application management.
One of the main changes is the Windows 11 Chat integration in Microsoft Teams, which now becomes a free feature and is pinned to the taskbar by default. This allows, for example, sending and receiving SMS through Microsoft Teams. Additionally, the program will receive a new feature called “People” to make it easier to find contacts.
Other changes include the release of WDDM 3.2 (Windows Display Driver Model 3.2) and HLSL Shader Model 6.8. The latter adds support for Job Graphics (experimental) and Wave Matrix (also experimental) to DirectX. However, the specific changes brought by WDDM 3.2 were not detailed.
Regarding apps, those included in Windows 11 will now be separate from the ones you install. Pre-installed apps will be labeled “system” in the “All apps” section of the Start menu and can be found in Settings > System > System Components.
A 23H2 update will be automatically distributed via Microsoft update technology, which checks system compatibility before providing the update. For those who want to receive the latest updates immediately, the option is available in the update settings.
Although it’s not the most exciting update, keeping your system up to date is critical to ensuring your computer’s security.
