A procedure that is used once more and once more in such situations following the tragic case of the Dane Christian Eriksen. The current Manchester United player also collapsed during the preliminary round game once morest Finland at the 2020 European Championships, but was able to be resuscitated.

Shortly before Dost’s collapse, a similar case shook the Eredivisie

The Dutchman, who had previously stormed for VfL Wolfsburg in the Bundesliga, moved from Sporting Lisbon to SGE in 2019. After almost a year and a half, he moved on to FC Brugge in Belgium.

After a stint in Utrecht, he joined the NEC in August and has since contributed three goals and two assists (including the game in Alkmaar). Just a few weeks ago, a similar incident occurred during the Eredivisie game between RKC Waalwijk and Ajax Amsterdam, when goalkeeper Etienne Vaessen remained motionless on the ground and had to be resuscitated. But the goalkeeper also survived. (wuc)
