Delivery times for cargoes of the Russian company Norilsk Nickel have increased due to the change of the main transport hub from the port of Rotterdam to the port of Tangier in Morocco, Mikhail Borovikov, director of the department of work with the community, told TASS Nornickel investment fund.
“We have a much wider ‘shoulder’ because the main port is no longer Rotterdam, as was the case before, but Tangier. The terminal is new, people are not used to familiarizing themselves with our cargoes, stevedoring services take longer. While in Rotterdam everything was settled for decades and worked like clockwork, here the delivery time has increased,” he said on the sidelines of the Smartlab conference.
At the same time, Mr. Borovikov noted that the delivery time has increased, but it is no longer getting longer. Previously, Anton Berlin, vice president of sales and distribution of Nornickel, said that the delivery time of Norilsk Nickel cargoes increased by two or three times.
At the end of 2022, the company indicated that it planned to make the port of Tangier a new transshipment center for the distribution of its products, this supply chain should be operational between the first and second quarters of 2023. From the port , distribution is carried out to Europe, North America and Asian countries.
Remember that Norilsk Nickel is a diversified mining and metallurgical company. The production divisions of the Norilsk Nickel Group are located in Russia in the Norilsk industrial district, the Kola Peninsula and the Trans-Baikal Territory, as well as in Finland.
