Apple Watches have stood out as some of the best smartwatches available on the market, consolidating themselves as the gold standard in wearable technology. These compact devices, comprised of metal and glass, house a range of powerful components, including an OLED screen, GPS, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and various sensors. However, despite its excellence, there is one weak point that continues to challenge users: battery life.
1. Disable Always On display

Models from Apple Watch Series 5 onwards, with the exception of Apple Watch SE, are equipped with a Retina display that uses LTPO technology, ensuring that the screen does not darken when in use. In a rest state, the refresh rate reduces to 1 Hz and the screen becomes darker, but still displays essential information such as weather and other display data.
Although this function offers convenience, it is important to note that it consumes a considerable amount of energy. If you notice that your Apple Watch’s battery is draining faster than expected, turning off Always-on-Display can be an effective solution. This action can result in energy savings of approximately 10-20% throughout the day, providing a significant improvement in the device’s autonomy.
To disable Always-on-Display, you must: Open the Watch app on your iPhone > Screen and Brightness > Disable Always-on-Display. This way, you will be able to enjoy an extension in the battery life of your Apple Watch.

Opting for a simple watch face that only displays the time can result in significant power savings on your Apple Watch. The device offers a variety of dial options, from the simplest ones that only display the time to advanced options that include data from various applications.
To choose a simple watch face, just go to the Face Gallery in the Watch app on your iPhone. Additionally, default or previously saved faces can be changed directly on the watch itself by sliding your finger from one edge of the screen to the other. This choice can make a difference in the battery life of your Apple Watch.
3. Uninstall unnecessary applications
When installing applications on your iPhone, it is common for them to also appear on your Apple Watch, however, many of them may not be useful to you. To manage the apps on your watch, simply click the crown to access the list of apps. If there are any you want to remove, press and hold their icon and click the “X”.

4. Disable the motion detector
Apple Watches have the ability to detect wrist movements and activate the screen without having to touch it. However, in some situations, this function may not work optimally and end up activating the watch at inopportune times, which can consequently lead to an increase in battery consumption.
If you notice that your Apple Watch is activating the screen with unnecessary frequency, especially in situations where you move your arms a lot, you can disable this function. Just open the Watch app on your iPhone and go to the “Screen and Brightness“. There, disable the options “Awakening by Raising the Arm” e “Light up when you turn the Digital Crown“. This action can help preserve your device’s battery.

5. Limit the number of notifications
Notifications play a significant role in your Apple Watch’s power consumption. A large volume of notifications from different applications can result in constant operation in the background, in addition to triggering the watch screen to wake up with each new notification received.
An effective way to optimize battery consumption is to disable notifications from apps you prefer not to receive. Apple Watch offers the option to filter notifications by both app and notification type in some cases.
It’s worth mentioning that third-party apps often replicate notifications directly from the iPhone. To easily manage your Notifications, just access the corresponding section in the Watch app on your iPhone. This way, you can customize notification settings according to your preferences and needs.

6. Update your watch
Keeping your Apple Watch updated with the latest version of the watchOS operating system is an important practice to ensure the device works properly. In addition to bringing new features, the updates also incorporate source code improvements that can have a positive impact on battery life.
To check for and install updates on your Apple Watch, simply open the app Watch on the iPhone, access the “General” and select “Software update“. Your phone will automatically check if any updates are available.

It is worth mentioning that, by default, the Apple Watch performs updates overnight, while it is charging and connected to a Wi-Fi network. This way, the device always stays up to date in a convenient way and without interfering with your daily routine .
7. Activate power saving mode
A useful feature of the Apple Watch is the power saving mode, which turns the smartwatch into a traditional watch by disabling most functions. This option can mean the difference between having enough battery or not at critical moments.
To activate this mode, simply access the app Watchand in the section My watchtap the option Exerciseand activate the Power Saving Mode.

Keep in mind that when you opt for Low Power Mode, some features like activity tracking and notifications will be temporarily disabled. Therefore, it is a choice to be made consciously, aiming to prioritize battery savings in specific situations.
8. Disable mobile data (on LTE models)
The LTE functionality built into select Apple Watch models is a great option for staying connected even when your phone is out of reach. However, it’s important to keep in mind that this constant connection can have a considerable impact on battery life, even on models with slightly larger capacities.
If your iPhone is nearby, it is advisable to disable the LTE connection on the Apple Watch. You can also activate the airplane mode to sync it with your iPhone, which can be done through Watch appaccessing General and selecting Airplane mode. This action helps preserve your Apple Watch’s battery.
