UAB Bowling Ranks Tenth in Destination Orlando Tournament: Highlights, Results, and Player Performances

ORLANDO, Fla. – The UAB Bowling team finished tenth (4-9) out of 18 total teams in the Destination Orlando this past weekend hosted by Sacred Heart.

In Friday’s five baker matches, the Blazers went 2-3 on the day with a loss in game one to Fairleigh Dickinson (794-956), a win over Florida A&M (1,045-829), a loss to Duquesne (937-981), a loss to Texas Southern (954-1017) and a win over St. Francis (976-954).

UAB went 1-4 on Saturday’s traditional games with a win over Emmanuel (932-831), a loss to Jacksonville State (902-1120), a loss to Alabama A&M (933-935), a loss to Vanderbilt (1,056-1,166) and a loss to Sacred Heart (892-990).

On Sunday’s best four-out-of-seven baker game bracket play, the Blazers lost in the first round to Tulane and responded with a win over Emmanuel in the second round. The Blazers lost in the final round in a rematch with first-round opponent Tulane for a tenth place finish.

The Blazers set three season-high’s during Friday and Saturday in total pins for a traditional game once morest reigning national champions Vanderbilt (1,056), total pins for a five game baker series once morest Florida A&M (1,045) and for total pins in a single baker game (266).

Two members of UAB Bowling placed in the top 25, with Savannah Schneider finishing 24th and MEAC Week 1 Rookie of the Week Madison Colston finishing in 25th. Both bowlers finished with 1028 total pins for an average of 205.6 pins per game.
