Following a breakthrough performance at the Summit League Championships on Saturday, the North Dakota State men’s cross country team is ranked 10th in the USTFCCCA regional rankings – a new all-time high in the program’s Division I era.

NDSU’s No. 10 ranking in the Midwest Region is its best since it became eligible for Division I championship competition in 2008.

The Midwest Region includes nearly 40 Division I schools in a nine-state area comprised of Illinois, Iowa, Kansas, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, North Dakota, Oklahoma and South Dakota.

The Bison men tied South Dakota State, 46-46, for first place at the Summit League Championships on Saturday, before dropping the tiebreaker to claim runner-up honors. NDSU put six finishers in the top 14 at the conference meet – the best performance in its Summit League history.

The Bison will run at the NCAA Midwest Regional in Stillwater, Okla., on Nov. 10. NDSU’s highest previous finish in the men’s team race at the NCAA Midwest Regional was 13th place in 2010.
