Towards poetry in times of war and devastation

Raya Publishing and Translation House announced the opening of its new branch in the Lebanese capital, Beirut, following its first branch in Sharjah. The poet Bashir Shalash, the founder and general director of the house, stated, “The birth of another branch, a second, of the house is an achievement that we are proud of, especially since it comes in Beirut, the capital of the book industry in the Arab world, despite the setbacks it has suffered and despite the deteriorating economic and living situation in Lebanon.” “But being in Beirut and working from there is still the dream of every ambitious Arab publishing project.”

It should be noted that Raya Publishing and Translation House has begun issuing its new titles in the market, which include 13 poetic and research titles, the most prominent of which are: “Criticism of Pain” / comprehensive poetry selections by Abbas Baydoun, “An Angel Without Wings” / poetry selections by Abdo Wazen, “Those Who Die Behind… “Their Ages” is the poem that the Lebanese poet and playwright Paul Saul dedicated to the children of Gaza, “Either or Alternative Poems” by Reem Ghanayem, “Like Someone Who Wants to Erase” by Hussein Bin Hamza, “A Sky with Two Braids” by the Moroccan Abdel Jawad Al-Awvir, “A World Injected with Botox” by the Palestinian Wadah Abu Jama’. “The Whole World in Boxes” by the Iraqi Michel Al-Rai, “The Choreography of the Man in the Suburbs” by Antoine Abu Zeid, “Around the First World” by Ali Shams Al-Din, and “Simple Rooms” by Mahmoud Wahba.

Added to the above titles is a critical book entitled “The Geometry of Beginnings in the Poetry of Mahmoud Darwish, Deleted Poems from the Haifa Years” by the Palestinian researcher Hussein Hamza, and in the narrative section, a book was published entitled “Pages from the Diary” by Ghassan Kanafani, presented to him by the Syrian critic Sobhi Hadidi, and it is a phrase About texts that appeared successively in Talkarmel magazine, dating back to the early sixties of the last century.

Work is also underway to publish five diverse works, including narration, short stories, and poetic portraits, by the Palestinian writer and poet Sheikha Hussein Helewi, in cooperation with the Arab Renaissance House in Beirut. The works will be published within the next two weeks and will be available at the Beirut International Fair, which is scheduled to be held at the end of next November.
