No doubt, quantum is the future of computing. To avoid missing this major shift, France must prepare now. She has no shortage of assets. Six start-ups have already emerged from the laboratories with the objective of commercializing a quantum computer. With one foot firmly anchored in R&D, they aim to industrialize their technologies in the coming years. But the road is still long and uncertain. They still have scientific obstacles to overcome and engineering challenges to take up: lasers, cryogenics, control electronics, etc. To respond, these emerging champions, like Pasqal and Quandela, must surround themselves with suppliers of so-called enabling technologies. An industry is beginning to emerge, in France and in Europe, to take quantum computing to the next level. And transform a scientific discovery into a new market with high potential.
