UniCartagena’s Medicine Program: Leading Research, Teaching, and Internationalization in Colombia

Highlighting the investigative and teaching work of all those who are part of the Program with the aim of continuing to train professionals trained to serve in any environment. According to the ranking, the Medicine program stands out for its research quality of 58.5%, as well as its international perspective, which is 46.6%.

The program has 19 categorized research groups, its professionals stand out in different medical-surgical specializations and in the medical-care agreements in IPS in the country.

Other universities in the country appear in the ranking, such as the Icesi University, the National University and the Javeriana University, who, like UniCartagena, have occupied a place in this ranking at an international level.

The trajectory of the Medicine program

Being one of the oldest programs of the institution, it welcomed doctors and illustrious professionals who have put their knowledge at the service of all citizens, it has strengthened over time in the area of ​​research, teaching/care and internationalization that have made it one of the favorite programs for future doctors.

After 196 years, the program has different Spin offs, doctorates, specializations and research centers that have been of vital importance for local, regional and national scientific development. This has also allowed international students to find in UniCartagena a learning space in the middle of the hallways of the institution and the Hospital Universitario del Caribe that opens its doors to all students in the health area.

Another important international ranking that also positioned Unicartagena on the world lists was the QS World University Rankings 2023 where it ranked 1,200 among the best universities in the world; in Colombia only 25 universities were classified. Likewise, in 2022 it entered the top 10 universities nationwide with the highest number of research groups, occupying ninth place, going from 80 research groups to a total of 104 active research groups. Likewise, it is the only university of the Caribbean region to be in this top 10 at the national level.
