The Dakhla-Oued Eddahab region wants to develop its aquaculture potential. In fact, it is working on the establishment of a land space dedicated to this activity. Given its exceptional natural assets and the interest it arouses among aquaculture investors, the Dakhla-Oued Eddahab region has been the subject of an aquaculture development plan. “For the implementation of this plan, considered among the flagship projects of the new development model of the southern provinces of the Kingdom, a Call for Expression of Interest (AMI) was launched by ANDA for the exploitation of the zones suitable for aquaculture identified at the level of the three sub-sectors concerned, namely the bay of Dakhla, the intermediate zone (Labouirda) and the zone of Cintra”, indicates the region of Dakhla-Oued Eddahab.

And to specify: The results of this AMI highlighted a significant interest of project leaders for the bay of Cintra, particularly its northern zone which presents beneficial environmental characteristics for the breeding of a wide range of aquaculture species, and of which all identified maritime parcels have been allocated.

In this sense, 14 aquaculture projects were selected, occupying a total marine area of ​​approximately 246 ha with a production potential of more than 4,500 tonnes/year. “In order to support the development of aquaculture projects in the Cintra Nord area and to offer them favorable conditions for the operation of aquaculture farms and the valorization of their products, the development and development of land space dedicated to the installation of facilities ancillary to these farms are necessary,” notes the same source. In this regard, a call for tenders for carrying out the technical studies necessary for the development of this space has been launched. Note that the space subject to development is land falling within the public maritime domain.
