Research in education and health is experiencing new momentum with the redesignation of the University of Clermont-Auvergne as a WHO Collaborating Center (CC) for a new period of 4 years.

The university also hosts the UNESCO Chair in Global Health and Education, co-chaired by the University of Huddersfield in England. By creating a global community, the WHO Collaborating Center promotes the development of cross-sectoral policies and practices in education and health, with a particular focus on improving the lives of children and young people.

Beyond educational benefits, schools are indeed important for health; 1 in 5 people in the world live and learn in school every day.

At the global level, the work of the Collaborating Center (CC) supports, with its partners, the strategies of WHO/Europe and UNESCO.

  • Contribute to strengthening research in the field of health promotion;
  • Implement programs to improve the health of populations;
  • Reduce inequalities and preserve our planet by supporting social change in favor of health for all.

Knowledge sharing and training are key objectives of the UNESCO Chair and the WHO CC, which has produced a reference work “Global Handbook of Health Promotion”. “Connecting knowledge, committing to health for all” will be the guiding principles of the CC’s second mandate.
