The Vienna People’s Party’s persistence is having an effect – no woman should feel unsafe in Vienna
Vienna (OTS) – Statistically speaking, one in three women in Austria has already been a victim of violence: “It is gratifying that in this context our long-standing demand for self-assertion courses is finally starting to move. Girls and women must become aware of their rights and strengths in order to implement them in everyday life,” said the women’s spokeswoman for the Vienna People’s Party, Sabine Keri, in view of today’s announcement by City Councilor Kathrin Gaal. And further: “The persistent initiative of the Vienna People’s Party has once once more shown its effect!”
In addition to the previous offers, the expansion of self-assertion courses is now also an important and correct measure. It is clear that this can only be the beginning. Today, a 39-year-old woman was once more attacked with a knife by a Kosovar in front of her apartment. Further measures must therefore follow:
“In addition to comprehensive violence prevention in schools and increased men’s work to counteract violence in the family, there is also a general need to increase the subjective feeling of security on Vienna’s streets,” says city councilor Karl Mahrer, state party chairman of the Vienna People’s Party.
“The rights and safety of girls and women are non-negotiable for us. No woman should feel unsafe in Vienna,” Keri and Mahrer concluded.
