British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak called for an “international approach” to the field of artificial intelligence (AI), asking the public to be “honest” regarding the considerable risks posed by the technology, ahead of a meeting on the topic next week in the United Kingdom.

“My vision, and our ultimate goal, is to work towards a more international approach to security, where we work with our partners to ensure AI systems are secure before they are launched,” said Rishi Sunak.

In this sense, he assured that the work of the British Institute on AI Safety, whose creation he announced this Thursday, presented as a pioneer in the matter, “will be available to the world.”

In his speech in London on Thursday, Rishi Sunak laid the foundations for his ambitions ahead of the international meeting to be held on November 1 and 2 at Bletchley Park, a mansion in north London where a code used by the Nazis.

The British Prime Minister also assured that he will fight to achieve the “first international declaration on the nature” of the “risks” of AI and will propose the creation of a group of international analysts, inspired by the IPCC model (Intergovernmental Group of Experts on Climate Change), to publish a report on the state of the science in AI.
