The love did not last long. The alliance between Luis Barrionuevo and Javier Milei came to an end following the libertarian leader’s pact with the hard wing of the PRO headed by Mauricio Macri and Patricia Bullrich. The leader who commands Uthgra, the union that brings together hotel and gastronomic workers, maintained that the new alliance generated “indignation and disenchantment.”
“I see the need to raise my voice to communicate that I cannot, nor will I, accompany this surprising alliance between Milei’s party, Mauricio Macri and Patricia Bullrich,” says Barrionuevo following the information known yesterday.
In the statement, he goes into depth when he refers to “caste.” “The question of caste has pervaded this campaign, and I am forced to question: at the end of the day, who turned out to be the real caste? It is evident that the illusion of our youth, thirsty for authenticity and change, has been betrayed by observing that an agreement is being made with characters who embody what they promised to fight.”
On the other hand, he maintained that in life, “dignity is not sold or negotiated. And, although the opposite is proclaimed, not everything is the same. Patricia Bullrich not only dirtyes the essence of the initial proposal, but also distorts and directly contradicts the pillars that motivated me to support Milei. I am not going to share the same political effort with someone who is the embodiment of punishment for working people, as he demonstrated in his repeated attempts at power. For these reasons, and despite everything that promised to be a new future for Argentina, I make the firm decision to disassociate myself from this new alliance.”
“My loyalty to the well-being of workers is absolute, and every decision I make is guided by transparency and the need to offer Argentines consistency and truth. And it is essential to understand: the country is not in danger. The homeland is all of us, persevering Argentines, who fight every day to get ahead in the face of the innumerable challenges of our country,” the statement added.
“Argentina needs a labor reform that protects workers and their organizations. Despite the challenges, it is we Argentines, with our integrity and love for our land, who build the country we want. It is crucial to emphasize that no government plan should focus on suppressing the adversary. Peronism is part of us, of our history and will continue to be so. Past attempts to silence voices have generated divisions and harmful consequences, especially for Argentinians who get up and go to work every day. “Any change must be inclusive and respect the traditions that define us as Argentines,” says the statement signed by Barrionuevo.
