The Israeli military said its soldiers hit fighters, militant infrastructure and terrorists’ anti-tank missile launch positions during the nighttime operation.
The Israeli Army radio announced the military incursion minutes before, highlighting that the IDF carried out “an unusual and extensive ground incursion of infantry and armored forces,” which was the “greatest range and depth” in said territory.

“Its purpose is to attack Hamas targets from within the Strip and strengthen the defense. “This is a broader operation than the incursions carried out so far in the last two weeks in the Gaza Strip,” the station noted.

This raid comes following the UN warned that it is on the verge of running out of fuel in the Gaza Strip, forcing it to drastically reduce aid efforts in the territory.
In recent days, Israel has allowed a small number of trucks carrying humanitarian aid to enter Gaza from Egypt through the Rafah crossing, but has banned the delivery of fuel needed to power generators, saying it believes Hamas will appropriate it.
This Wednesday, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu announced plans for a possible ground offensive in Gaza, amid an intense bombing campaign in the region controlled by Hamas terrorists.
In his statements, Netanyahu assured that “we are preparing for a ground offensive.”
The conflict escalated on October 7 when Palestinian Hamas terrorists crossed from Gaza into Israel, resulting in the deaths of approximately 1,400 people, mostly civilians, and the kidnapping of another 222, according to Israeli officials.

The President of the United States, Joe Biden, held a conversation this Wednesday with Benjamin Netanyahu regarding creating a safe passage to evacuate foreign citizens trapped in the Gaza Strip in the face of the imminent invasion of the Israeli Army.
Biden reiterated his support for the continued flow of humanitarian aid to the enclave, de facto ruled by the Hamas terrorist group.
“The president discussed ongoing US support for the continued flow of humanitarian aid to Gaza’s civilian population and welcomed efforts to increase this support over the coming period,” the White House said.
On the other hand, he pointed out the importance of creating permanent peace conditions between Israelis and Palestinians once the current war is over.

He emphasized that Hamas does not represent the Palestinians or their aspirations. Although the United States supports Israel, its largest ally in the Middle East, its position regarding the conflict is the two-state solution.
The two leaders also discussed efforts to locate and secure the release of the more than 200 Hamas hostages, who were captured during the militia’s assault.
