The ADEMA University School will continue working on the different possible options to implement five university degrees in the Balearic Islands, Medicine (already existing in the offer of the Balearic public university), Biomedical Engineering, Biomedicine, Architecture and Design, given the rejection of the Governing Council of the UIB to incorporate these degrees into its offer under its umbrella: ADEMA is a private center associated with the Balearic University.

“The ADEMA University School has the support of the health sector and other economic productive sectors linked to these degrees that have a strong labor demand to expand its offer in our Autonomous Community, promote research, promote talent and economic diversification” they assure from the private entity.

ADEMA in its “innovative commitment” wants to “make it easier for students from the Islands to be able to study new university degrees, without having to travel to other autonomous communities and, specifically, degrees that present great job opportunities due to the shortage of professionals.” Almost half of Balearic university students are studying abroad.

The private health sector of the Islands that makes up the Balearic Union of Health Entities (UBES), “has asked the ADEMA University School to work to urgently implement a new University Degree in Medicine to address the lack of medical personnel and researchers that our Autonomous Community suffers, a problem that will worsen in the next decade due to the high retirement rate and poor replacement,” they say.

In addition, it has offered its collaboration and combined efforts so that this new Degree in Medicine can “be a competitive, quality project that can feed medical personnel and specialists, trained in our hospital centers to our Islands”, always according to a press release from the private teaching entity, issued today following learning of the UIB’s refusal to expand, under its umbrella, the proposed degrees.

Likewise, these health sectors, with interrelation with Biomedical Engineering and Biomedicine, are launching strategic lines to incorporate research and innovation and increase their competitiveness. ADEMA aims to provide a response in this field in R&D&i as a factor of value creation, innovation and multidisciplinary research impulse. As for Architecture and Design, there is also constant evolution and growth in these markets, which present a strong demand from future university students.

ADEMA “has it in its power to help” and “does not want to be left out of the possibility of offering new degrees in the Balearic Islands, since it has sufficient experience, capacity and strength to develop them, as well as spaces for the development of new campuses in Palma and Inca and the collaboration of the private sector.

The degrees would be taught with an “innovative educational methodology that contemplates carrying out service learning projects, flipped classrooms and collaborative work, among others, betting on the latest generation technology applied to each area of knowledge.” Furthermore, “in all grades there is a commitment to research to provide results to the community and contribute to the development of society in the different areas of knowledge.”
