With fall, our hair loses its tone and beauty. They become dull, when they simply don’t fall off. How to cure it ?
Temporary, lasting, widespread or localized: hair loss is seasonal. It can have many causes and manifest itself in various ways. In men, for example, it is often linked to genetic heritage and the effects of male hormones which accelerate the life cycle of hair.
In women, falls can have hormonal causes (following childbirth, for example) but can also be linked to stress, thyroid problems or even diabetes. But, in the end, it is often a very complicated situation to live with, for fear of seeing all the hair disappear.
On average, a head of hair contains several tens of thousands of hairs and as many hair follicles. Each follicle produces a single hair and, every day, we lose between 50 and 100 hairs which immediately begin regrowth. Hair grows in cycles. The follicle produces hair at a rate of approximately 2 millimeters per week. This growth phase gradually ends in one to two weeks before the hair dies and remains attached to the skull for approximately three months before falling out. After the fall, the follicle resumes a growth phase. You should know that each hair follicle is capable of performing between 20 and 25 cycles before becoming exhausted. Sometimes this process stalls and abnormally significant hair loss occurs. When should you start worrying? We can consider that there is pathological hair loss when the number of hairs lost each day exceeds 100 or when an area of the scalp loses more hair than the rest of the skull.
What to do ? Treatments for hair loss depend on its cause. Alopecia areata, for example, is treated with corticosteroids. Diffuse falls require iron supplements. We can obviously complete the treatment with treatments (shampoos, conditioners, food supplements, etc.) which will give a little boost or bring, this is seasonal, tone and shine to the hair.
A diagnosis by a professional (dermatologist) can also be useful to, if necessary, implement a suitable treatment which will promote regrowth.
