Scuderia AlphaTauri will run rookie Isaac Hajar in place of Yuki Tsunoda in the Friday free practice of the F1 Mexican Grand Prix. All teams are required to use drivers with no more than two race experience throughout the season for the first practice session.
Nick de Vries was counted as a rookie for Scuderia AlphaTauri in FP1 in Bahrain, but Liam Lawson was not counted as he was driving the same car as de Vries, and the garage was given one session each. I need to give in. The French-Algerian driver currently races in Formula 2, F1’s feeder series, and is 14th in the standings with two races in Abu Dhabi remaining. Hajjar will also be driving the Red Bull RB19 in a practice session at the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix. “We are delighted to announce that F2 driver Isaac Hajjar will be behind the wheel in FP1 this weekend,” AlphaTauri said in a statement, along with a photo of Hajjar adjusting his seat. “He’ll be jumping into Yuki’s seat for more laps in Mexico.”
