According to the analyst Ming-Chi KuoApple would be planning a redesign of the MacBooks Pro for 2025. The information appears following the event announcement “Scary fast”which will take place next Monday (10/30) and should focus on new Macs.
On his profile on X (formerly Twitter), Kuo spoke regarding the drop in model sales and Apple’s possible strategy to strengthen the line. According to him, if the “M3” generation fails to boost shipments, there is a likelihood of a “completely redesigned MacBook Pro” arriving in regarding two years.

As far as I know, Apple attributes the significant drop in MacBook shipments in 2023 primarily to the M2’s limited processing upgrade. I believe that’s why Apple may prefer to launch the MacBook Pro line [com] M3, even when production volume is still low, instead of continuing to ship the MacBook Pro series [com] M2. Theoretically, the M3 should offer a more significant boost in processing power.
However, if even the M3 fails to increase MacBook shipments, I believe the likelihood of introducing the completely redesigned MacBook Pro in 2025 may increase. Additionally, Apple may also consider (but has not yet decided) introducing a more affordable MacBook model to boost shipments, with a target of 8-10+ million units per year.
Even so, Kuo did not specify whether this reformulation will only apply to the 14 and 16-inch models or whether it will also include the smaller variant — although, according to him, a redesign of the more expensive models, launched in 2021, is not out of the question.
In addition to this possible novelty, Kuo suggested that Apple might introduce a Most affordable MacBook — although that decision has not yet been made. This more affordable option might help stimulate shipments and expand the laptop portfolio.
With these changes, the analyst estimates that the giant should aim for between 8 and 10 million units shipped per year.
