The Minister of Education and Higher Education in the caretaker government, Abbas Al-Halabi, sent an appeal to the Secretary-General of the United Nations, Antonio Guterres, “to put pressure on the government of the Israeli enemy in order to work to neutralize schools in Lebanon from bombing and military operations.”
Minister Al-Halabi denounced the Israeli bombing of the public school in Aita al-Shaab, which was empty of learners.
Stressing that “public and private schools are buildings designated for teaching, and they can be used in emergency situations to receive families or for relief and humanitarian work.”
He stressed that “the new, renovated and equipped schools will resume receiving learners as soon as calm returns to the southern border region, and they must remain ready without any damage.”
