The official spokesman for the Egyptian Ministry of Health, Hossam Abdel Ghaffar, confirmed that North Sinai Governorate hospitals are ready to receive any injured people from Gaza.

Abdel Ghaffar stressed in a statement to Sky News Arabia that “there is complete preparedness to deal with the health repercussions associated with the events in Gaza.”

He pointed out that preparations and readiness have been made “at the level of preparation and training of medical staff and at the level of detention places in hospitals, whether in internal departments, care centers, nurseries, and dialysis units.”

He also noted the readiness at “the level of supply chains related to medicines, supplies, and blood bags, the concentration and preparation of ambulances, and the readiness of the preventive medicine sector to deal with any epidemics due to the conditions existing in Gaza.”

The Undersecretary of the Ministry of Health in North Sinai Governorate, Tareq Shawka, said on Monday that there is a plan that includes transporting injured Palestinians through 150 ambulances stationed in various areas of the governorate.

Shoka pointed out, according to a North Sinai Governorate statement, that the governorate’s hospitals have a capacity of 300 beds, and the hospitals have been supported by a staff of doctors from various medical specialties from the Ministry of Health and Egyptian universities.

Last week, Minister of Health Khaled Abdel Ghaffar inspected North Sinai Governorate’s hospitals and ambulance points, as well as the quarantine area, to ensure full readiness to deal with health emergencies related to the escalation in Gaza.
