Off-Duty Pilot Arrested for Endangering Passengers by Turning off Plane Engines Mid-Flight

Portland: An off-duty pilot was arrested on the complaint that he tried to endanger the passengers by turning off the engine of the plane while flying. The incident took place on Sunday at Alaska Airlines in Oregon, US.

An off-duty man, David Emerson, 44, was traveling in an extra seat in the cockpit of the plane. The complaint is that he was trying to destroy the plane by turning off the engines of the plane while it was flying. Realizing the danger, the flight crew immediately subdued him and handed him over to the authorities. He was sitting in the seat behind the pilot and the first officer.

The incident took place on a flight from Everett, Washington to San Francisco. There were 83 people on board, including 80 passengers and three crew members. The flight was immediately diverted and made an emergency landing in Portland, Oregon.
