Vienna (OTS) – More than two weeks following the devastating Hamas attack, Israel is sending ground troops to Gaza. How far can self-defense go and how is Austria tackling increasing anti-Semitism? The impending Israeli ground offensive in Gaza is keeping the world in suspense; isolated soldiers have already penetrated into Palestinian territory. There is great concern regarding a high death toll among the abducted hostages and the Palestinian civilian population. This increases the risk of the conflict further spreading to neighboring countries.
This is also why international crisis diplomacy for mediation is in full swing. The UN, but also the USA and the EU, call on Israel to comply with international humanitarian law.
At the same time, there is a threat of destabilization in the West due to increasing anti-Semitism and the increased threat of terrorism.
