The first step must be followed by others – insensitivity and social coldness must be ended – City Councilor Hanke should separate from management

Vienna (OTS) “It is to be welcomed that City Councilor Peter Hanke has now obviously been able to assert himself in the management of Wien Energie. This is ultimately for the benefit of the people of Vienna. But it is also clear that this first step must now be followed by others. The Viennese must finally be given lasting relief,” said state party chairman City Councilor Karl Mahrer in view of today’s announcements by City Councilor for Finance Peter Hanke. The municipality-owned Wien Energie in particular has a social responsibility in connection with pricing.

The fact that this callousness and social coldness, which has been pervasive here for ages on the part of the Wien Energie management, has now been put to an end for the time being should be seen as positive. As is well known, management recently spoke out once morest discounts for customers, despite City Councilor Hanke’s recommendation. “Furthermore, however, it is the task of the city government to achieve a clear line and transparent pricing instead of constantly relying on individual measures,” continued Mahrer.

“From the perspective of the Vienna People’s Party, a lack of risk management and insufficient reporting and communication were identified as part of the commission of inquiry into the Wien Energie case. Now comes the insensitive approach to customers. “I therefore recommend that City Councilor Hanke separate from this management as soon as possible,” concluded Mahrer.
