The new president of the Insurance and Social Security Control Authority (ACAPS), Abderrahim Chaffai, was installed in his position on Monday in Rabat, during a ceremony chaired by the Minister of Economy and Finance, Nadia Fettah.
On this occasion, Ms. Fettah congratulated Mr. Chaffai for the Royal confidence placed in him, noting that his expertise and his commitment in the sector will surely be a rich experience allowing him to carry out his new mission as well as possible and in the best conditions thanks to the to the men and women of ACAPS, who since the creation of this independent authority have continued to develop the sector and support all businesses.
In this wake, she stressed that the road is “still long” for the insurance sector which has an extremely important economic weight, particularly in terms of digitalization whether for distribution, marketing or process improvement, calling to redouble efforts to take it further, especially with the insurance penetration rate “which is not sufficient”. For his part, Mr. Chaffai said he was proud of the trust placed in him by His Majesty King Mohammed VI, expressing his firm desire to continue the strategic projects underway within the Authority. “My objective is to breathe new life into our action while continuing our regulatory and support missions for the insurance sector, by supporting stakeholders to meet current and future challenges so that the sector can fully play its part. role within the national financial market,” he said.
Mr. Chaffai indicated that he will also ensure that ACAPS continues to fully exercise its role in terms of supervision and support of the social security sector, which has experienced a historic turning point in recent years, and this, by continuing to bring all its expertise to public authorities, particularly in the current context marked by the large-scale Royal project of the generalization of social protection.
Furthermore, he expressed his commitment that the Authority can continue to fully play its mission in terms of protecting policyholders and ensuring that their rights and interests are preserved in all circumstances.
Mr. Chaffai held, before joining ACAPS, the position of director of the Solidarity Fund once morest Catastrophic Events (FSEC), since June 2019. A mathematician and statistician by training, he is an expert in the insurance sector where he has held high-level positions in insurance and reinsurance companies.
