The guest on Bel RTL’s 7:50 am this Monday was the general director of Solidaris, Jean-Pascal Labille. He answered questions from Martin Buxant, particularly on the links between health and the State.
This Monday morning, the general director of Solidaris was the guest of Martin Buxant on Bel RTL matin. The socialist mutuality claimed that the pharmaceutical industry was too expensive in Belgium. “It is the only sector which does not respect the budget assigned to it”denounced Jean-Pascal Labille to Martin Buxant. “He easily surpasses him.”
According to the boss of Solidaris, the pharmaceutical industry “must respect the same rules as others”which would not be the case today due to lobbying “Very important” established in the country since “long time”.
To combat this additional cost, Solidaris launched a campaign entitled “The fair cost price of medicine” so that the firm, which freely sets the prices of medicines and is not transparent on production costs according to a communication from the socialist mutuality dating from 2022, revalues costs. “It is estimated that 1 billion euros are overspent compared to what should have been on medicines”continues Jean-Pascal Labille on Bel RTL. “There is a lot of work to be done on this”, in Belgium, as well as on the European level.
The country will chair the Council of the European Union in 2024. According to Solidaris, this additional cost of medicine and pharmaceutical lobbying must be at the heart of discussions on an international scale.
