WHAT IS VOTED THIS OCTOBER 22 IN VENEZUELA?

This Sunday, October 22, Venezuela will choose the opposition candidate to represent them in next year’s presidential elections.

The National Primary Commission (CNP) reported that more than 3,000 voting centers will be enabled in the country’s 335 municipalities so that Venezuelans can exercise their right. And for those voters who are abroad, 87 centers will be available in 80 cities in 30 countries. Colombia, the United States, Chile and Spain are the representations with the largest number of voters.

HOW TO VOTE IN THE 2023 PRIMARY ELECTION?

If you live in Venezuela, you will be assigned a center close to your usual voting place.

If you are abroad, you will be able to vote in the Primary Election if you meet one of these two conditions:

1) You have successfully registered in the before July 10. In that case, you will be able to vote only in the city that you have selected among the 80 enabled cities.

2) Have registered in the official Venezuelan Electoral Registry to vote abroad. In that case, you will be able to vote in the city in which you are registered (do on the list to verify that your city is enabled with electoral centers for the Primary Election).

It should be noted that every Venezuelan over 18 years of age registered in the Electoral Registry before May 31, 2023 can participate this Sunday.

VOTING SCHEDULE FOR THE 2023 PRIMARY ELECTION ABROAD

Voting hours for the Primary Election will be between 8:00 am and 4:00 pm on Sunday, October 22, 2023. These hours will be governed by the local time of each city. The closing of the tables is scheduled for 4:00 pm as long as there are no voters in line.

WHAT DO I NEED TO VOTE IN THE 2023 PRIMARY ELECTION?

On October 22, you will only have to appear in person at the voting center of the city in which you are registered, with your Venezuelan identity card or passport, valid or expired. The polling station members will verify that you appear in the voting notebook and that’s it.

WHO IS WINNING ACCORDING TO THE LATEST POLLS?

According to the survey by the Center for Political and Government Studies (CEPyG) of the Andrés Bello Catholic University (UCAB) and collected by the media Infobae, the voting intention of Venezuelans is led by the representative of Vente Venezuela, Maria Corina Machado with a 47.8% of those surveyed, followed by former candidate Henrique Capriles Randoski, who withdrew from the race a few days ago, with 8%.

The rest of the candidates: Delsa Solórzano, Tamara Adrián, Gloria Pinho, Andrés Caleca, Andrés Velásquez, Carlos Prosperi, César Almeida, César Pérez Vivas, Luis Farías, and Roberto Enríquez have less than 3% each.
