In the Kanto region, autumn skies will continue to prevail from tomorrow, the 23rd (Monday) onwards. The 24th (Tuesday) is the 24th solar term “Shimofuri”. Be careful of the temperature difference between morning and evening and daytime. There is a high possibility that we will see a partial lunar eclipse on the 29th (Sunday).

Clear autumn weather with a temperature difference of more than 10℃ between morning and evening and daytime

In the Kanto region, there will be many sunny autumn days even following tomorrow, the 23rd (Monday). However, on the 25th (Wednesday), clouds are likely to spread mainly in the south due to the effects of low pressure and humid air. It will rain locally, but it will be short-lived.

The maximum temperature will be around 23℃ on many days, and it will likely be at or above normal. It’s bright and cheerful and will be comfortable under the sun. As a result, the temperature difference between morning and evening and daytime is likely to increase.

Lowest temperatures will be near normal in many places, and mornings and evenings will be cold. The temperature in central Tokyo today, the 22nd (Sunday), dropped to 11.5 degrees Celsius just following 5 a.m., and it looks like the morning of tomorrow, the 23rd (Monday), will be just as cool. Temperatures in Utsunomiya and Mito will drop below 10℃. The 24th (Tuesday) is the frost of the 24 solar terms. Along the northern mountains, there are likely to be more days when it gets cold enough to cause frost.

Jackets and coats are required in the morning and evening.

Morning clothing index.

Even following tomorrow, the 23rd (Monday), you will need outerwear such as a jacket or trench coat in the morning and evening. It won’t be as cold as in winter, but on a mildly sunny day, it will feel colder from the ground up.

Since there are many days when you can wear just a long-sleeved shirt during the day, be sure to wear layers that are easy to adjust. Since people experience heat and cold differently, please use this as a reference when choosing clothing.

Moon approaches Saturn and Jupiter; partial lunar eclipse

Stargazing and moongazing is also recommended over the weekend.

In October, Saturn can be seen in the autumn constellations in the southern sky following sunset. The brightest object in the southern sky is Saturn, and Fomalhaut, a first-magnitude star in the southern constellation Pisces, can be seen at a distance to the lower left of Saturn. On the 24th (Tuesday), the moon will appear to approach Saturn.

After that, the moon will approach Jupiter on the 28th (Saturday) and 29th (Sunday). There will be a full moon on the 29th (Sunday), and the partial lunar eclipse that will occur at dawn will be visible from almost all of Japan. In places such as the Ogasawara Islands, there will be a “moon eclipse,” where the moon will set without a trace.

In Tokyo, the start of the partial eclipse will be around 4:34 a.m., the maximum of the eclipse will be around 5:14 a.m., the end of the partial eclipse will be around 5:53 a.m., and the moon will set at around 6:06 a.m. During this lunar eclipse, only 12.8% of the moon’s diameter will be in the Earth’s shadow. The lunar eclipse will end before it eclipses too much, but it’s best to observe it from a place with a clear view of the western sky.
