Jerusalem: Apart from Gaza, Israel launched a heavy attack on the West Bank. 13 people, including five children, were killed in an Israeli airstrike on a refugee camp in the West Bank. This was announced by the United Nations Relief and Works Agency. The UN agency said in a statement that one Israeli soldier was killed and several others were injured during the attack.
About 3 million Palestinians live in the Israeli-occupied West Bank. The airstrikes hit the Jenin refugee camp in the West Bank. A mosque was also attacked, allegedly as a center of terrorist activities. One person was killed. It is also feared that many people are trapped in the debris. It was a famous mosque in the West Bank.
Meanwhile, Israel has warned that it will intensify its attack on Gaza. The Israeli army has announced that it will soon enter the Gaza Strip. Israel has decided to increase its airstrikes from today to help the troops entering the ground offensive.
“We will increase our attacks, reduce the risk of our soldiers in the next stages of the war, and from today we will intensify our attacks,” an Israeli military spokesman told a news conference in Tel Aviv.
Israel has also called on those in Gaza City and elsewhere to flee to southern Gaza. The warning is that if not, they will be considered as partners of Hamas and will face attacks.
The UN has warned that evacuating the entire population of northern Gaza, which has a population of around 1.1 million, will be impossible and that an Israeli move would have huge humanitarian consequences.
