US stocks decline as bond yields rise

US stocks fell at the end of last week following the yield on ten-year bonds exceeded 5% on Thursday for the first time in 16 years, a level that might affect the economy by raising interest on mortgages, credit cards and car loans.

At the end of trading, the Dow Jones Index fell 0.85%, or 286 points, to 33,127 points, achieving weekly losses of 1.6%.

The Standard & Poor’s Index ended two weeks of gains, declining 1.25% at 4,224 points, falling 2.4% in last week’s trading. The Nasdaq index’s series of losses extended to the second week following its decline on Friday by regarding 1.55%, equivalent to 202 points, at 12,983 points, down 3.15% during the week. In European markets, the Stoxx index fell 1.35% to 433.7 points, the lowest close since January 2, recording weekly losses of regarding 3.45%.

The British FTSE 100 fell by 1.3%, the German DAX index fell by 1.65%, and the French CAC fell by 1.5%.
